Erectile Dysfunction

In this next article we are again looking at a problem similar to premature ejaculation which only effects men.

Today we are looking at Erectile Dysfunction which is defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection of the penis. Another term for erectile dysfunction is impotence and is referred to in medicine as a sexual dysfunction.

As is the case for women with Anorgasmia, (the inability to reach orgasm) there are similarities in that physical and psychological factors can be causal.

Research suggests that 4 out of every 5 cases of Erectile Dysfunction is due a physical problem within the man.

Potential causes include problems with the heart and blood vessels, diet, obesity, diabetes, or neurogenic (problems involving the nervous system).

Psychological factors which can contribute to Erectile Dysfunction can include stress, anxiety and depression.

Alternatively it may be something simple like smoking tobacco which has produced the condition.

Regardless of the cause of this condition what is certain is that it can have a profound impact on the sufferer. Being unable to sustain an erection can lead to a very sexually frustrating experience. If the man is in a relationship then it is highly likely to cause relationship problems. The partner is liable to internalise the problem as being “I am not sexually attractive enough” or “you don’t love me” - assuming that the lack of erection is a reflection on them.

Furthermore, the man is liable to feel guilt and shame and as ‘less of a man’ because he cannot perform in the bedroom and is temporarily unable to reproduce.

If Erectile Dysfunction is effecting you do not suffer in silence, please in the first instance go and see your GP as it is liable to be something which can be successfully treated.

Erectile Dysfunction may be improved with the incorporation of sex toys and adult toys. A vibrating wand on the penis and perineum may be sufficient to illicit the desired response. Alternatively men can try anal stimulation with a sex toy.

Through anal stimulation the man’s P-Spot or prostate gland can be massaged. The prostate is where a man produces the fluid which helps semen and sperm to flow and through massage can produce erection and orgasm.

John Thomas Toys have over 200 different sex toys and most are ideal for anal or vaginal stimulation. Through regular anal play you may well find that Erectile Dysfunction can be improved.

Please bear in mind the anus unlike the vagina is not self lubricating so remember to use the free lubricant you will receive with your large silicone dong order.

Medical treatments which could be used (possibly in conjunction with sex toys) include medication, penis pumps, testosterone treatment or in serious conditions surgery.

If you suffer from Erectile Dysfunction it is always a good idea to be honest and discuss it with your partner. If you are anxious about sexual intercourse then a psychosexual counsellor would be the ideal person to talk to.

Worrying and making sex the most important thing in your life (and within your relationship) is not necessarily the best way to go about things. If you can make your sexual performance less ‘serious’ then you are paradoxically more likely to be able to achieve erection because you are letting go of your fears which can inhibit the body.

Sex aids such as large silicone dongs are great in the bedroom if you need a little more stimulation to maintain an erection. If you can experiment both alone and with your partner then you may find your sexual confidence rises and you feel less inhibited.
