The Penis
Since the majority of John Thomas Toys are based on the male penis I thought it was apt to write a brief article on the mighty member itself.
The penis is a man's sex organ. The penis starts off very small and grows from birth and reaches its final full grown size when the man has gone through puberty.
The penis has two main roles which are to facilitate reproduction and to allow excretion of urine.
The penis is comprised of many parts.
The head of the penis (in slang referred to as the helmet) is known as the glans. Again, the majority of the adult toys and sex toys which John Thomas Toys sell have a prominent glans on display.
Some men, usually due to their religion or for cultural reasons, have had the covering of their glans removed at birth. This is known as circumcision and is a controversial topic. This skin is known as the foreskin.
Unfortunatley many children each year die as a result of botched circumcision.
In some extreme cases boys or men can have a circumcision as a neccessary treatment for a serious medical condition such as phimosis.
Along either side of the penis are two portions of tissue which when filled with blood enable a man's penis to become erect. These areas are called the Corpus cavernosum.
A spongey column of tissue also runs along the front of the penis and ends at the head. This tissue is called Corpus Spongiosum. This also fills with blood when the man is erect and helps to keep the tube carrying the man's sperm and semen open in preparation for ejaculation. This 'tube' is known as the urethra and it is also responsible for carrying urine from the bladder.
The penis is the ultimate phallic symbol and is the classic shape for which dildos and dongs have been based on for hundreds of years.
